I have been using this decks for about two years now and I so love it because of the depth of meaning and how the context of Western thought directly relates to Greek myth. In The Mythic Tarot, the intersection of the two worlds is mutually rich and satisfying, and skillfully aligned with the familiar RWS imagery.

Juliet Sharman-Burke is an analytic psychotherapist, and has been practising tarot and astrology for twenty years. When I first started using tarot, I found the Rider Waite deck did not resonate with me as easily as the Mythic deck. I find the clear imagery and stories present in the cards make for easy reading, I can always see meanings and situations in the cards that I can talk about. The book that accompanies these cards is bigger than I was expecting and the beauty of it is you get the stories of the Greek Gods as well as the meanings of the cards, there is a few spreads to get you started, some practice reads and a small section for your notes.

I’ve collected many tarots over the years, and have stopped adding because I’m getting old and downsizing, but I’m so glad I made an exception for this particular deck and book. I would highly recommend this deck to anyone starting out or who has an interest in classical studies, mythology, or archetypal imagery.

I was very happy to download this app as I love the Mythic Tarot and Greek Mythology, I'm lucky to have two decks of the original deck, this app has a diary and the original book also, I recommend this app, it's one off the best Tarot apps out there! Mythic Tarot has been my core deck for readings since 2007 and i am just amazed by its power to provide a different facet of itself each time 🙂 Its like the cards weave a story in a spread. Not surprising because the Companion book's explanations are a little too graphic (although I am sure, true to the myths themselves) for me. It only comes with an LWB instead of the nice book for the New Mythic, though, so you’ll still need to get your hands on a guide. For this new edition, the entire deck has been re-illustrated by Giovanni Caselli, an artist with a passion for the classical world, its literature, symbols and myths.It is so that some cards ‘fit’ less easily than others the Star is one such however overall the clarity of the artwork the design and fresh colouring allows the reader to find and discover in a new way towards a reading that may rest lightly upon traditional foundation but steps away towards the Greek Myth. And the Mythic Tarot does an absolutely fantastic job of bringing all of the elements that are integral to these myths – the intriguing stories, the stellar star cast, and the interwoven plot lines – all together into these wonderful cards.

This classic deck first published in 1989, has now been re-illustrated by Giovanni Casselli, an artist with a passion for the classical world, its literature, symbols and myths. But the deck creators have chosen their stories well, especially since they fit so beautifully with the flow of the energy of each of the suits! I have had this deck now for five years, and have read and study it 69 times, and I shall continue doing it because I love the deck and the book so much.Once you have grasped it completely, wielding this deck doesn’t truly seem like a hard task, though.
